Beat School for Kids teaches music production, beat making, songwriting, and performance to ages 7 to 17, in our Hollywood studio, at your child's school, or at your next event.

Our mission is to ignite creativity in young people — turning listeners into confident creators. At Beat School for Kids, students arrive with a desire to create and leave with an original song, production skills, and the belief that they can build anything they imagine.

Whatever it is, Beat School for Kids helps you get there. We’re the only music production class in Los Angeles designed specifically for children ages 7-17 years old.
Kids in Los Angeles are surrounded by music. It's in their headphones on the way to school, in the videos they watch, in the games they play. And almost none of them are ever shown how it gets made.
Our music program changes that.
In our Hollywood studio, with working artists, kids find out that the beat in their favorite song was made by a creative person, and they can be that person.

How your child becomes a creator
1. Listen
Your child arrives with the music they already love. We listen and commit to our goals and practice. We start there because that's what makes them want to learn.
2. Make
In the first session we collaborate and build a beat. By the end of the program they've written, recorded, and finished a song that's theirs, using BandLab and ProTools, the same tools working producers use.
3. Share
They play it for the people who matter to demonstrate their skills. That might be a family showcase, a school stage, or a room full of friends. A kid who has done that doesn't see themselves the same way again.

Taught by working artists
Mr. J is a Grammy Recording Academy member who toured the world with Atlantic Records and Warner Brothers artists and engineered Kid Cudi's live concert in South Korea. He teaches from that experience. Your child doesn't get a hobbyist with a laptop, they get someone who has been in the music industry for 15+ years.
